OPEN POSITIONS
SALES REPRESENTATIVE

South Riding Nurseries is seeking applicants for an inside sales position for our nursery located in Bristow, VA. SRN offers a dynamic work environment, competitive salary, commission on sales, health and dental benefits, paid sick leave, vacation leave, paid holidays as well as a matching 401(k) retirement plan.

Reports to:      Sales Manager

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Serve customers by selling landscape products and meeting customer needs.
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales clients.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
  • Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in the horticulture industry.
  • Two to five years of sales experience.
  • Strong written and verbal skills are required.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and ability to learn our point of sale system.
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Reports to:

Nursery Supervisor

Primary Function:

To acknowledge, greet, offer assistance so that every customer interaction has a positive outcome for not only the customer but also South Riding Nurseries.

Essential Functions:

Customer Service:

  • Direct customers to correct plants in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Load requested plants based on customer requests, offer substitutions if needed to make sale or to provide more value.
  • Insure all customers receive the highest level of service based on knowledge of inventory, current sales techniques both promptly and courteously.
  • Making sure all orders are processed efficiently and timely.
  • Communicate all exceptions to customer orders in advance of shipments.

General:

  • Communicate with sales team and have an overall knowledge of availability of material.
  • Communicate with the team observations and insight based on interaction and communication with customers.
  • Merchandising of plant material and signage, supporting promotions, sale programs.
  • Quality Control review incoming sold and stock material, tagged orders, and material being loaded.
  • Maintain holding area, inspect incoming, tag and keep organized, update team on outgoing orders, return material not needed to general inventory. Ensure holding policy is be adhered to.
  • Coordinating and loading of customers and deliveries in a fair, efficient and profitable manner.
  • Maintain safe workplace and environment.
  • Insure equipment is functional to include daily maintenance of equipment, schedule service with the shop, coordinate repairs with the shop, and communicate status with the team.
  • Assist with making purchasing recommendations of plant material and hard goods to the buyers while being mindful of turn of product, space allocation, customer needs, and seasons.
  • Keep yourself growing and challenged and aware of industry trends and networking opportunities to include attendance at seminars, training classes, trade shows, field days, touring vendors, or reading trade publications.

Position Responsibilities

  • With management leadership, complete all tasks assigned with minimum supervision.
  • Oversee and assist in loading customer orders.
  • Communicate with customers on our ability to fill their needs, tag orders, and coordinate sales needs with Nursery Supervisor.
  • Complete top 100 counts to provide for sufficient inventory to meet customer’s job specs.
  • Monitor nursery yard so it is kept clean, well signed, organized, watered, blocked, free of weeds and trash with adequate garbage cans throughout nursery.
  • Be aware of and comply with all company policies and employee manuals.

Requirements

The candidate must:

  • Have a valid driver’s license, and drive delivery trucks within the yard.
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week, and be available to work after closing and on weekends when given proper notice.
  • Be in uniform and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Be dependable, productive and show initiative.
  • Be skilled in good inventory management practices.
  • Be knowledgeable in basic horticulture, plant material and care of plant material

The candidate must be able to:

  • Work within provided budgets.
  • Have good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Be proficient in both written and oral communications.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Have the ability to become familiar with our POP and Inventory management software (Foundation).
  • Operate a skid loader and articulated loader.
  • Work outdoors in any weather and be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
DELIVERY DRIVER

South Riding Nurseries is looking for highly motivated people that have a love of the outdoors and enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

Reports to:      Nursery Supervisor

Primary Function:   To promptly distribute our products efficiently and safely to our customers. You will represent our company professionally and strive to provide the highest level of customer service.

Essential Functions:

Customer Service:

  • Deliver a wide variety of products to different addresses utilizing different routes.
  • Load, unload, prepare and inspect delivery vehicle.
  • Collect payments.
  • Make sure all orders are processed efficiently and timely.
  • Communicate all exceptions to customer orders in advance of shipments.

General:

  • Communicate with the team observations and insight based on interaction and communication with customers.
  • Coordinating and loading of customers and deliveries in a fair, efficient and profitable manner.
  • Maintain safe workplace and environment.
  • All other job duties as communicated to you by management within the scope of the company as needed or deemed necessary in order to assist customers or make improvements.
  • Keep yourself growing and challenged and aware of industry trends and networking opportunities to include attendance at seminars, training classes, trade shows, field days, touring vendors, or reading trade publications.

Position Responsibilities:

  • With management leadership, complete all tasks assigned with minimum supervision.
  • Complete truck logs and reports accurately.
  • Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve client’s complaints.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Be aware of and comply with all company policies and employee manuals.

  • Punctual; work outdoors in any weather, and be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Operate skid loader and articulated loader.
