This extensive residential project in Vienna, Virginia was completed this year by Perfect Landscapes.  The project started in spring 2018 with extensive construction, including a pool, hot tub, patio, walkways, grilling area, lighting and irrigation.  The client requested a formal look to compliment the house  but also wanted to tie in with the natural backdrop of the wooded area and steep slope behind the house.  Pavers and natural stone were utilized to achieve both of these requests. The slope in the backyard created opportunities to use natural stone to create pathways and sitting areas, all the while highlighting focal points and providing easy access to the pool area.  This year’s rain delayed the schedule, but the majority of the project was completed this fall and the homeowners are excited to be able to use this year-round outdoor living space.

South Riding Nurseries supplied most of the plant material for this job.  SRN’s extensive holding area and multiple growers providing fresh material weekly allowed us to secure the material while being in constant contact with Perfect about their evolving schedule and needs.  With around two weeks’ notice, all the plant material was secured and held for a minimal time through the rains before we delivered the material the day it was needed.  Some of the key specimen plant material supplied  by SRN included Thuja בGreen Giant’, 12 ft, Lagerstrœmia בNatchez’, 12 ft, Ilex בDragon Lady’, 8 ft, Acer ‘Sango Kaku’, 2”, Skip laurels, 5 ft, Buxus ‘Dee Runk’ 4 ft, and ‘Winter Gem’ and ‘Green Velvet’ 24” and 30” in addition to numerous shrubs and perennials.  As with the hardscaping, the  owner wanted a formal look closer to the house, blending to a more natural look as they approached the woodline.  The larger evergreens provided instant privacy for their back yard retreat.  The larger Cryptomeria were supplied by SRN in 2016, which along with other plant material on the adjoining property was also installed by Perfect Landscapes.  We look forward to more projects like this where we have the opportunity to communicate and adjust to changes and have the right material when needed for an excellent long-term customer that is getting good referrals.
